As I sit at brink of starting my first official librarian job, I decided to create a place to talk about my hobbies, work, and passion. Fortunately for me, these things all intersect. Well, maybe not the "purr" part as much, unless you count the large number of cat hairs that are attached to my clothes on a daily basis.
My current knitting project is a Ravenclaw scarf. I hope it will be finished in time to wear it to the next movie, so I can be a total nerd. If I finish in time, I'm planning to add a house beret. In order to cement the nerd factor, you know.
I'm not sure why I like Harry Potter so much. I mean, the books are excellent examples of storytelling at its best, but it's more than that. The alternate reality that is the magical world is described with enough detail that even without the movies the reader could imagine living there. I think that most all of us can identify a character, be it a main character like Harry or a secondary character like Luna, and find some part of ourselves in them. But with all the fantasy trappings stripped away, it remains a classic story of good vs evil, bravery, friendship, and strength. And don't we all just wish we could apparate instead of messing around with planes, trains and automobiles?
